Norman Smith, Ed.D.

For over 25 years, Dr. Norman Smith has been guiding students and their parents through the admissions process of universities both in Canada and in the United States. Since earning his doctorate in Educational Administration from The College of William and Mary, Norman has been a principal at four private high schools both in Canada and the U.S. He is a member of the Ontario School Counsellors' Association, the Higher Education Consultants Association, the Ontario College of Teachers and the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (US). He has extensive experience developing and implementing university admissions programs and has personally counselled hundreds of high school students as they planned their post-secondary future. Dr.Smith has administered the SAT and PSAT and has broad experience with U.S. university admissions including those of the Ivy League.

  • Short Term Consultation:
    • From 1-7 sessions for any issue(s) related to university/college admission
    • Fee: $125 per hour plus GST for meetings and research time
  • Potentiality:
    • Eight-session package designed to counsel student from November/December of junior year of high school through admission to university/college
    • Sessions on the home page are an example of the typical series of topics and are for purposes of illustration only. Sessions will be tailored to the student's needs.
    • Fee: $1,200 plus GST (No fee additional fee for research unless an extraordinary amount of time is required. This additional time would be approved in advance.)
  • Three-year Program:
    • Twelve consultations from sophomore year through graduation/admission
    • Includes review and consultations regarding academic progress; credits; choice of courses, including pre-requisites and standardized tests required for university programs of interest; career education; extra-curricular activities; summer/work experiences; directed assistance with university/college admissions process including choosing programs and schools and assistance with applications for admission and scholarships; and assistance in choosing which of the schools offering admission the student will attend. Includes consultations with teachers, guidance counsellors, administrators and helping professionals if the parent(s) or guardian so grants legal permission.
    • Fee: $3,000 plus GST (No additional fees)
  • Four-year Program:
    • Twenty consultations from freshman year through graduation/admission
    • Includes all of the components of the 3 Year Program plus explanation of high school graduation and university/college admission requirements; further suggestions and directed practice with study skills directed to achieving success in high school; continued discussions and research regarding personal and career interests.
    • Fee: $4,200 plus GST (No additional fees)
  • Complete Secondary School Program:
    • Thirty consultations from junior high school through graduation/admission
    • Includes all the components of the 3 & 4 Year Programs plus an analysis of the junior high record, review of previous psycho-education evaluations and suggestions for remediation, if applicable; initial discussions and research regarding personal and career interests; introduction to university-preparatory reading lists; review of study habits and directed practice with study and time-management skills useful in high school; explanation of the importance of learning how to make wise decisions; an explanation of the value community service and extra-curricular activities.
    • Fee: $6,000 plus GST (No additional fees)
